I believe that when a person feels valued, supported, and truly heard they can begin to forge the path that will lead them to self-fulfillment and deep, satisfying relationships with others.

Emily has worked as a Clinical Social Worker and Psychotherapist throughout the Chicago and North Suburban region for 19 years, providing therapy and counseling to adults, teens and children in a variety of contexts.

Treatment specialties include:

  • anxiety

  • depression

  • trauma/PTSD

  • relationship and parenting challenges

  • children and teens

  • first-responders/emergency-workers

  • sexuality and gender issues

Emily utilizes a relational approach, and tailors treatment to each client’s individual needs, incorporating elements of Psychodynamic and Mindfulness in her practice. Clients are met at their own personal readiness for change, and goals are set and accomplished at a client’s pace.

A mother of two, Emily understands the complex challenges of parenting from both a professional as well as a personal level. She works hand-in-hand with parents to find methods that work for both the child and parents, resulting in lasting change.

Education & Background

Emily’s educational experience includes: a master’s degree from The University of Chicago’s Social Service Administration in 2007, and completion of a Certificate Program in Global Mental Health through Harvard University in 2010.

Emily is trained in the SPACE Model (Supporting Parents with Anxious Childhood Emotions) Model, a parent-focused training to assist parents in managing their children’s anxiety.

Additional post-graduate trainings include: Treatment of Anxiety Disorders, Play Therapy, Trauma/Emergency Support, and over 100 hours in training specialized in providing culturally competent and LGBTQ friendly mental health support.

I feel like Emily really listens. She’s helped me to solve some of the key issues in my life that felt overwhelming before.
